青木宏 seed of the earth｜2025年11月22日〜12月6日

このたび、京都・嵯峨小倉山にて「青木宏 seed of the earth」を開催いたします。

青木宏の手から生まれる器形は、有機的で独特のかたちをしています。植物や古代蓮から着想を経て自身の中から生まれ出るフォルム。

焼き締められた肌は荒々しく、どこか温もりも帯びており、雨や風に長く晒されてきた石のように感じられます。何度も繰り返される焼成の過程で、極限まで焼かれた焼肌は土の中に含まれる化合物が石のようなつややかな質感と荒々しい素地のアンバランスさを生み出し独自の世界感をあらわしています。

それはまるで生と死、生命の循環を感じずにはいられません。

種子は、いのちのはじまりであり、終わりのかたちでもあります。
そんな青木の作品を紅葉の美しいこの時期にぜひご高覧ください。

Hiroshi Aoki: Seed of the Earth

at Sagano Ogurayama, Kyoto

We are pleased to present “Hiroshi Aoki: Seed of the Earth” in Sagano Ogurayama, Kyoto.

The vessels born from Hiroshi Aoki’s hands appear as if they have taken form directly from the memory of the earth itself.
Inspired by the motif of plant seeds, each work contains within it a small universe, quietly pulsing with life.

Their fired and burnished surfaces are rough yet tender, reminiscent of stones weathered by years of rain and wind.
Through the repeated process of firing, Aoki reveals the rhythm of creation — the very cycle through which life is born.
On the surface of each piece, the quiet traces of nature and the accumulation of time are inscribed, evoking the profound continuity between life and death.

A seed is both the beginning and the end of life.
In his work, Aoki finds within the earth the quiet pulse of regeneration, guiding us toward a time beyond human measure.

We invite you to experience his work during this beautiful season of autumn foliage in Kyoto.
